Politicians and Diapers

I didn't get a lot of news from home while in San Diego, but I was shocked that I had to read in the Times, Post, Daily Snooze, and all the Queens weaklies about Melinda Katz's decision to have a baby. Let me make one thing perfectly clear. I DON'T CARE. And neither should you.

There are so many quality of life issues that actually affect us all, and this is not one of them. This is not something I should have to read about in every god damn newspaper. Some people have made a big deal out of the fact that she used an anonymous doner. Who the hell cares? That isn't your business or mine (unless I was the doner ... ..shit, when was the last time I went to that clinic??)

Politically, I don't like Melinda. She's the lowest form of career politician - the kind that claims they're the qualified simply because they've raised a lot of money (look for more articles on this topic soon). This automatically loses my vote because it means they've already sold out to people with more money than me, so they'll never give a shit about my problems.

Despite my feelings about Katz, I hope she makes a great mom. Honestly. I hope she finds family life to be so fulfilling that she gives up all aspirations of higher office, goes to work in the private sector and stays away from politics and out of city government.

You know what they say about diapers and politicians: They both need to be changed often, and for the same reason. Let's just say there's a diaper pail with Melinda's name on it.

Meet 'The Sons and Daughters of Middle Village and Maspeth'

Some very, very ugly Middle Village children are misbehaving as usual.

So here's the story in summary. Apparently, the Juniper Park Civic Group got a nasty letter from a city commissioner for a sign someone brought to their rally. Read the full story here. Mysteriously, this letter shows up on hate blog run by accused rapist councilman Dennis P and his two supporters. The rape blog claims it received the letter from a grounp called 'The Sons and Daughters of Middle Village Maspeth'. So who are these mysterious 'sons and daughters' and how on earth did they get a copy of this letter?

Let's see if we solve this mystery without the help of a fat detective. The scan that the Pink Patriots posted has the 'cc' field removed. I WONDER WHY?? The full letter does not. For some reason, possibly spite, the commissioner decided to cc all the local elected officials. Only one of those officials is an unstable pink councilman who harasses his own constituents and runs the blog where the letter appeared. Here's a hint, he's sent out his propaganda on city council stationary very recently. Can't guess? His name is highlighted below.

Does anyone believe that the Mayor, Serf, Andy Hevesi etc would submit their copy of the letter to Gallagher' blog with the CC field covered up? Moe thinks not. Most of these other people have work to do, and know what constitutes appropriate behavior for an elected official and what does not. No, friends, such childish behavior could only be the work of a man sick enough to bring a woman back to his council office for sex and stupid enough to create a blog exclusively to honor himself and harass his opponents and then have letters like this mysteriously appear there from an anonymous source.

Don't believe Gallagher runs the blog? Just read the postings over the last week and a half.

Rape charges aside, ask yourself if you are happy with the way the councilman Dennis Gallagher is earning six figures of your tax dollars. If not, write and demand his resignation. While you're at it, copy the Mayor, Serf, Phil Ragusa, Hillary and Chuck, George W and anyone else you want to add. Apparently it's their business too.

Ham Sandwich Leads Gallagher in Poll

A recent poll indicates that if an election were held in district 30 today, a ham sandwich could indeed beat embattled incumbent Dennis Gallahger. Gallagher, long known for dividing the community, is now facing a ten count indictment for rape.

The ham sandwich received a strong 73% of the vote, while Gallagher got only 9%, with 10% saying they would write in their favorite cartoon character, and 8% undecided.

The ham sandwich went on the record saying it had not decided weather or not to run for office if there is a special election, but it believed it could do a better job representing the community than Gallagher. Gallagher, when contacted by our female reporter, declined to comment on the poll, but did ask is she could perform a pole dance for him at his office.

It is rumored that Gallagher's supporters (one heavy one in particular) are trying to find and eat the ham sandwich to eliminate his new rival. It is also rumored that supporters of both potential candidates are squaring off over who is pinker. Gallagher supporters maintain that the nickname "Pinky" belongs to exclusively to him.

Gallagher Stripped (of council duties)

Satire (or is it?) Submitted by 'Patrick Humpty'

The New York City Council got a little less diverse last week, losing it's pink tinge, befitting the body that represents Maspeth, Middle Village, Glendale and Ridgewood along with every other neighborhood in the city.

The City Council is considered the arm of the city government in which members are elected by the people they represent to make sure city services are on track with the wants and needs of the residents who live there. Council members have a 'say' through votes on zoning issues, transportation, traffic, housing, sanitation, public safety and City Parks. Each of these services has a Council committee. The Council typically issues priorities on capital projects and funding for city services. Each of the 51 districts in the city has a member, of which one is elected by that board to serve as its leader - to shape the committees and the direction of its focus.

In a vote that took place at the NYC Council on Monday, August 6th, a unanimous decision of 37-0 of the members present was made to strip accused rapist, Councilman Dennis Gallagher of the Council's 30th District in Queens, of his committee posts.

"I have been a drunk all my life," said Gallagher. "I think the council is a great way for people such as myself, who have no skills whatsoever save lying, drinking, cheating and taking graft, to make $112K of easy money. The committees I was a member of are breathing a sigh of relief without me in there."

Along with his goal of securing more bribes while pretending to represent neighborhoods such as Glendale, Gallagher said he also ran because the intern pools are composed primarily of young women.

Gallagher claimed his removal was a complete surprise, and said he would need the first part of the rest of his term just to consider how best to exact revenge on his colleagues and his community. He promised to continue to ignore his neighborhoods' traffic problems, including poor signage on Putnam Ave., Decatur St., and Traffic Ave, and trucks that occasionally ride the sidewalks.

Laughing at the sentiments of his community boards, Gallagher swore to ignore local problems, and to not listen to the people's needs above all. "Part of my job as a leader is to give a chance to others to take over so that I don't have to do anything," Gallagher said. "In my twenty years of public service, I think there are more leaders on the 51-person council now than ever before. They were feeling brought down by me, and I think their votes showed that [tonight]."

With regards to the Council's ousting of Gallagher, Bob Holden - who is publisher of the Juniper Berry - credited members becoming disenchanted with Gallagher's personal attacks against him and others who might dare have differed on how to plan for the future of the neighborhood. A series of personal attacks have been regularly published on Gallagher's council stationery and through blogusations on anonymous blogs allegedly operated by Gallagher's allies.

For Gallagher, however, the evening was doubly disappointing; after failing to retain his council committee membership, he also was forced to give up his position as Minority Whip, and lost $5,000 that came along with the post (Gallagher vowed, however, that he will continue to use a pink leather whip in the back room of his taxpayer funded office). Fellow Republican Councilman James Dodo, who was on-hand, agreed that Gallagher's politicizing his own group, the Middle Village Maspeth Civic Association, may have made many council members uncomfortable. "Deep down, people are not comfortable when - in order to boost themselves, a person needs to put down others with personal attacks," he said. "Members of the council said loud and clear that they reject these tactics."

Dodo also pointed out that someone Gallagher had been outwardly attacking for over 2 years may now take his place. "The upcoming special election vote will be a clear sign that the community wants civility, not divisiveness," he said.

Writing 101 for Middle Village Idiots

Moe started this blog to make fun of morons, but now feels compelled to provide an important service to the community.

It has come to Moe's attention that Dennis Gallagher and his Middle Village idiot supporters just can't write. So Moe has taken it upon himself to educate those whose ignorance is just embarrassing.

Lesson one will cover:

  • capital versus lower case letters
  • use of apostrophe in abbreviations
  • spelling of basic four letter words (no, not THOSE words)
  • use of the question mark

Here is a comment submitted to MVI:

"moe whats ur real name"

Can you find the four pre-school level mistakes in this 5 word sentence? Next time try:

"Moe, what's your real name?"

The rest of this week's lesson is available here:

Shitting on St. Saviour's.

This is a story I've followed with interest, but now feel compelled to write about - you will see how well it fits in this blog about stupidity. Despite the funny picture, the following story will leave you both heartbroken and furious at the same time.

West Maspeth, Queens is comprised mostly of industry and modest, well kept homes. It is inhabited by hard working, down to earth people that you don't seem to find in New York anymore. It reminds me very much of the working class railroad towns my family came from in Pennsylvania.

The centerpiece of this neighborhood for over a century has been the historic St. Saviour's Church and its beautiful acre of green property. The church was purchased in secrecy by a developer in 2005 without ever being put on the market. The plan, of course, was to rip down the church and build Queens Crap style housing on the site. The Juniper Park Civic Association (JPCA), a local park and community group joined the local residents to stop the destruction of the land and church and convince the city to buy the property for a park and community center. They have succeeded in preserving the church and property for over a year and a half.
But the city has not acted.

Even worse is the shocking and appalling lack of support that these people received by nearly every official in city government, including the cast of characters depicted above (from left to right):

Councilman Dennis P. "Pinkmo" Gallagher - lobbied for the developer to get a zoning change, harassed the civic's members, disrupted plans for a land swap that even interested the developer, and finally this week sanctioned the cutting down of nearly every tree on the property. He's likely finished as a politician, so he takes one last shot at his arch enemies - the regular decent people who don't give him money, sex, or alcohol. Here's an example of the kind of comments that he and his supporters write about JPCA's members on their slander/threat-blog:

Robert "Ernie" Tierney - chairman of the landmarks commission who said the property was too altered for landmark status - despite the fact that completely rebuilt structures elsewhere have been landmarked

Mayor Mike "Bertberg" - did nothing. Not even a word or an explanation of why this neighborhood isn't included in his 2030 green plan and it's children don't deserve a park. Billions of dollars in surplus, but none for West Maspeth. Thanks Mike.

Two Headed Monster "Herry" Ganoulis - one head is a well paid lobbyist representing the developer. The other head is an (unpaid) commissioner at the TLC with access to all kinds of folks in city hall. This no doubt enhances Herry's lobbying ability. Shockingly this practice is not illegal, but it is most certainly immoral and needs to be outlawed.

Not pictured are do-nothings speaker Christine Quinn (doesn't speak a word about this issue), councilman Melinda Katz, Deputy Mayor Dan Doctoroff, former community ASSistance commissioner Patrick Brennan (who recently joined Parkside), CAU rep Matt Gorton, who, according to the preservationists initially said he would help, then did nothing and denied he had pledged assistance, and last but not least, the Manhattan-snob preservation community which cares more about ugly signs in the village and a rusty railroad track in Chelsea than an entire acre of land in Queens.

Moe is sickened to realize a sad truth - that that city simply does not care about the people of West Maspeth. They are too working class, too "old world" to matter. They are seen as part of the past, not the future. They don't have the money, power or voice to get so much as consideration from six-figure salaried politicians and a billionaire mayor. Their last piece of open space is better used to warehouse hundreds more people and park dozens more SUV's.

But..and PLEASE READ THIS PART ... THERE IS STILL HOPE! The trees are gone, but the property and the church are still there and can still be saved.

PLEASE JOIN local residents, activists, and Councilman Tony Avella (they had to import a real councilman from the other side of Queens) to call for the saving of St. Saviours and to condemn the reckless actions of the developer and "councilman" Dennis Gallagher.

SATURDAY JULY 14

NOON

57-40 58th STREET (CORNER OF RUST ST) IN WEST MASPETH.

Come see the property and the neighborhood. I have been there and I can tell you these people need and deserve both their history and a park. We must not allow the city to turn its back on them.

And here's a deal-sweetner for the mayor: Act FAST to acquire this property and I'll make you into Charlie Brown instead of Bert. Wouldn't you like that?

Dennis Gallagher, is under investigation.

I'm sure eveyone knows by now that Dennis Gallagher, is being accused of rape. As much as I dispise this man, I hope that he didn't commit such a harmful act, but that is a matter for the criminal courts to decide.

Regardless, the court of common decency hereby charges councilman Dennis P. Gallagher with the following apalling and unethical acts against the community and even his own family.

-Dennis Gallagher, a married man, spent a Sunday afternoon in a bar drinking and picking up other women. The bar he slums at is down the street from his family's home.

-Dennis P(orno) Gallagher sold porn from a rented space in a catholic high school before being elected to the city council. Oh, but it's ok because it was 'collectible' porn and was wrapped in plastic.

-As a parting shot to his nemesis, Bob Holden, apparently sanctioned his developer friend
to cut down the trees at the disputed St. Saviour's property.

-Gallagher's other crimes against St. Saviours and it's West Maspeth neighbors: He refused to support a land swap that could have satisfied all parties (except himself) then lied to a newspaper about it. He blatantly refused for over a year to consider any option for the property that didn't include development. He actively lobbied for a zoning change on the developer's behalf after they hired his friends at the Parkside Group. Most laughably, a week ago he stated that development would be beneficial to the neighborhood.

-For years Dennis has kept his campaign office in the same building as his district office (a little tidbit that seems to get lost in the shuffle). Does anyone really believe he doesn't have his staff doing campaign work.. and probably posting nasty misspelled comments on blogs like this one? Rumor has it there is even a sort of 'secret passage' between the two offices. Time for a NY1 piece on this. UPDATE: I was wrong about one thing, not everyone has overlooked this.

-Councilman Gallagher took money from an assemblyman - no problem here. But after this assemblyman was indicted and charged with stealing the cash from children's charities, Dennis still kept it in his coffers. Were you trying to help Brian hide that money, Dennis?

-Before being elected to the council, Dennis Gallagher was wiretapped making deals with a crooked building consultant. He skated by without being charged in that matter, but he doesn't get away with it in the court of decency.

-Dennis has sunken to new lows of irrational behavior over the last few years, including a harrassment campaign against a local civic group, which he fought using city resources and city council stationary, harassing constituents at their homes, taunting a senior citizen at a local mall , having his detractors thrown off the community board and conspiring to sue local activists who exposed him as being a Grade A Prime asshole and a liar.

-In five years in the city council, he authored zero pieces of legislation.

I'm not even touching on the abundant rumors of sexual harassment, drunken behavior, and inappropriate conduct that have been around the community for years. The best part is: we all paid Dennis Gallagher to go out and committ these acts. I've never seen anyone work so hard to RAPE the community he supposedly represents for $112k a year. This man has no decency, no judgement and no moral compass.

I don't want a man like this hauling my garbage, much less representing me in the city council. It is time for this miserable pile of shit to resign, crawl into a bar and let the community recover from all the damage he has caused.

I feel horrible for the guy's wife and kids. No one deserves what they must be going through.
